Let me break it down for you. Sports and gaming are both forms of entertainment. People pay to view them for entertainment. Putting out an inferior product whether it be a video game or a team that consistently loses is the same. Fallout 76...promised the world...delivered nothing. Insert any sports team before the season hyping their chances whatever they are to sell tickets and or gear to their fans...same thing. Fan is short for fanatic...it means you root for something out of loyalty even...
Really? Tell that to any fan of a sports team who is in rebuilding mode. Yes come buy tickets to watch us tank for years so we can possibly get a good team in the future. It's exactly the same, with maybe the sports franchise not being direct with their words as much. If you think you've been screwed as a Bethesda fan... You know nothing of a true Cleveland Brown fans misery
Were still fans... You can still be a fan of a sports team that has been awful for a decade because the owners and upper management are either terrible talent evaluators or just trying to make money regardless of the product put on the field.

What the heck is the allure to this game where you could become addicted???? Been gaming about 32 years and I love the hobby to death but I couldn't see spending more than a couple of hours playing a day

You are correct. (All the arguments about the historical nature aside) if EA/DICE would have released the game without the grayed out options in the menus and released their war stories with the multiplayer parts it would have been fine. They would have developed even more good will if they surprised people with future content after the fact(without announcing it months in advance and then claiming that gamers want a slow drip of content and not tons of content at launch).
Battlefield V is an "early access" title so people shouldn't rush out and buy it anyways. I understand the traditional mp portion of the game is there at launch...but tons of items are not.
