It seems Sony always has problems with all the drives they use.. I've had so many problems with their previous equipment not being able to read any disks.. But, good thing everything else seems to work like a charm. But, they really need to get their drives to the top notch mark like everything else..
I've had 2 PS2's that stopped reading any type of disk and 4 ps1's that stopped reading disks and also had a DvD player from Sony that stopped reading disks.. Well, my PS3 is workin...

Yea.. I think it'd be stupid to buy a PS3 JUST for movies.. but that's my opinion. But, for people that just want to watch movies on the Blu-Ray format, then the PS3 is the cheaper choice to pick up, even if it does play games, it's still cheaper than the other Blu-Ray players. I'm sure as far as they are concerned, it's just a Blu-Ray player and not a gaming console. I went to Best Buy and saw that the cheapest Blu-Ray player was about $75 more than the PS3..

If the drive can't read ANY disks then it's worthless, whether it's still running or not. It can't play ANY games OR blu-rays(dvd's).

Not necessarily.. they want to get as much of games sold as they can, both MS and Sony do.. They know it's a BIG game, and lots of people are going to buy it. If MS got 3/4 or so of the sales of GTA4 then that'd be a big blow to Sony, seeing how the previous games were Exclusive, at least timed, for the PS3. Or, because, the PS3 fanboys say GTA4 is a PS3 franchise.. If MS got the majority of those sales, whether you believe it or not, would still hurt Sony, because they lost GTA4 exclusivity,...
So, are you saying you won't be playing the Online features of GTa4 then? Because you have other games coming out that you will play instead..? For people that want to play online then the extra content will be just like a new game. If it is in fact a big download. When I first get GTA4 I'm gonna play through the campaign and then start playing online.. by the time the DLC comes out, I'll be more than willing to re-play it.
