Metroid: Other M uses a 2.5D style of play.
While it is rendered in 3D the Z-axis movement is limited and the view is from the side. When moving down a corridor the front/back movement is primary, while X-axis is somewhat limited. ANd the camera view is fixed behind Samus.
So while it is a 3D engine, the game mechanics are heavily biased in favor of 2D style play. In short it feels a lot more like Super Metroid (as far as basic controls are concerned) than any of...
Loved RF:G. :)
@Baka-akaB
For me the implementation of advertising post-sale was a major negative along with the refusal on SCEA's part to issue a disc.
PSN and XBLA are great for little arcade style games, but they suck for full retail titles. For that I want a disc I can own and not have the game tied to a console.
It certainly wasn't the cost that put people off if my circle is any indication. Between myself and my friends I know at least five different peopl...
"We all know Sony supported Wipeout HD quite a lot."
In Europe, perhaps. In the US, not so much. Sony didn't even bother with a disc release in the US and it plastered in-game ads all over in later patches.
That's not exactly top tier support.
Guess we're never going to see a good WipEout game again.
Long live Fury.
Not too odd. Remember the PS3 release of Lost Planet included Mega Man and Frank West among others.
Granted they were Capcom characters, but still, Marcus and Dom probably fit the style of the game a bit better.
For the PS3 version it'll likely be Sony owned characters. If Resistance or Killzone had better known characters I'd guess they would be likely. Kratos is always possible, but he doesn't seem like he'd fit the universe.
Ever since the XBR mod came out (just before the new year), modded retail systems have been able to play anything, including unsigned code according to various Xbox forums on the net. XBR basically broke any and all security on the retail systems so if you have a XBR 360 you can play dev code.
Hopefully this won't mean another delay for the game.
It's pretty straightforward. Microsoft doesn't allow anything regarding sex or sexual orientation in profiles. Microsoft doesn't care if you're gay, straight or a little wavy. It just doesn't want you broadcasting your sexual preferences to the world on a service with underage gamers.
It'll be interesting to see what kinds of software (XBMC anyone?) develops from this.
Yeah, they raised the price today. That's why you should always check stories in pending. ;)
It was free yesterday and early this morning. Looks like it just took N4G a day to approve the story.
After you get the confirmation email with your order number just go back to the site and use your order number and password to look up the order details. It'll have your serial number and download link right there.
The issues seem to be confined to the Zune software. Facebook, Halo Waypoint, Last.fm and Twitter all work as advertised. It's somewhat odd too because the Zune software on the PC side is pretty solid. I wonder if they had two different teams working on the PC and 360 apps.
However it used to be that the entire game was on the disc.
So yeah, maybe you couldn't play multiplayer but you could at least play single player.
Here you cannot even install the game to play single player because the Securom servers aren't live. Basically stores are selling game discs that simply don't work out of the box. At all.
It's just a link to a site that offers pirated games for a fee. Not a news story in any way.
@edwineverready That's the thing. You can't even play single player.
Basically anyone who bought it has a coaster right now. It won't even install because the auth servers aren't up yet.
It's one thing to offer it as an optional service to customers. It's another to open a new system, use it to go online (which starts the warranty clock) and then sell the system as new.
This is as bad as GameStop selling opened games as NEW instead of as USED.
Delays suck. There are always good games on the horizon. Better to get them sooner rather than later. :)
This was an absolute blast to play through. :)
@EvilTwin Getting descriptions down is always a challenge. Even though the game world is rendered in full 3D (you can always drop to first person POV to look around) the levels and movement are designed from a 2D POV and the camera relates to that. It is always fixed in regards to Samus. You don't control the camera at all (excepting when you are standing sitll and looking around in first person POV).
For example, when running down a hall left to right, the camera is on the sid...
