What is the point of this? People know this disease is fatal, but we really can't do anything about it if the people that have been studying it for years now still have no clue on how to cure it.
Quake and that style of gameplay seems to be slowly dieing out, and with Half-life it really isn't all that great anymore there are much better things to be played on consoles such as Halo 3 and COD4 (I'm a Sony fan believe it or not) and I haven't heard much about The Sims lately. They need a new Sim City game..man were those fun.
it has caught on becuase it appeals to a bigger audience than previous MMOs have. You no longer need to wait 5 hours to find a group to do things. Also, it's a simple design, fun gameplay and addicting.

They would make less money than they do now, and trust me a business's main focus is profit first.
Even if MS had $20 Billion on hand they would need at least $25 billion more to buy Yahoo. Although MS has a lot of money they can not just go around buying out companies at will. There is a certian amount of leverage needed when running a business for a number of reasons like a recall, or maybe creating a 3 year warranty for RROD consoles. This is why MS NEEDS to borrow money.
