489 isn't all that impressive, hell I'm a completely mediocre player and I have around a 400.
Private servers aren't a tool for pussies, they're a fun way to mix things up and tweak how you want to play. Plus it can be invaluable for beginning players to practice things like flying and map layouts.

The fact of the matter is this, buying used isn't a criminal action. If you buy a used game, you're buying a copy that has already been paid for, and whatever server space it uses, has also been paid for.

If I buy a game used, that means the game was originally bought new, that money has gone to the devs, it's served it's purpose.
If I pirate a game, I'm obtaining a copy in which no money has ever gone to a developer....zero, zilch, nada.

These are terrible....
I'd recommend that you'd hold off on BF3 on PS3.
They still have VOIP issues and there's a small input delay that will drive you up a wall.
