Thats what I have for my 360, and when ps3 is out, so i'm safe if thats the case.Bring on the HDMI.
Also alot of people are getting 1080p HDTV's every day and some already have them,and most of the people that I know that have them are on xbox,it's the next step to nextgen if you are going to spend the money on a new HDTV then get it all, why would you spend your money on something that can't give you full potential for the future,so if a HDTV dosn't come with 1080p again why waste the money. I have a Samsung 1080p HDTV but I don't have a HDMI surround sound receiver, all I have is optical for sound, so if M$ sells an HDMI cable I hope it has optical like the HD cable, if not more money for a new HDMI surround receiver.LOL the money pit (JUST SH@@T ME)

It is a fact now that HD DVD and BLUERAY have the same visual quality, yes BLUERAY has more space on the disc, but HD DVD is starting to expand space and experimenting with new technology to upgrade, and even pass BLUERAY with extra space on the dvd.
Now would you pay $1000 for a BLUERAY player or would you pay $500 for HD DVD with the same visual quality and also HD DVD with most movies you can play them in the old school dvd...
HD DVD technology is always at work making more space on the hd dvd. I wouldn't put it past M$ if this player in the near future will be able to play HD DVD games just like blueray. M$ always has something up the sleve.
BTW did they mention what cables are coming with the HD DVD player.

1080p may not be a big deal to all,but it should.It shows the power that the 360 has,if you don't need that power now you don't have to use it, but remember it's always there for you, and with the option of a HDDVD player your not forced to spend over $600 to get the same results or more from that other co, if you don't want to.
i know it connects usb so then you don't need the 360 so that tells me that it is a stand alone
