Having the debate is fine I have no problem with their story direction but the game has a terrible way of delivering that message. It's all over the place, disjointed mess. Neil thinks he nailed it but in reality, he has no idea how to put the puzzle together.

Similar situation happened to another game earlier this year, in game assets and plot leaked 3 months ahead, delayed, pandemic, still pulled great numbers. So this isn't the only case here.
Pre-release negative crowd actually gives most games an increase in sales due to curiosity. When there's so much hate for it, people end up buying the game just to see what the fuss was about.
Graphics, Technical Achievement, Cast Performance, Animation, Gameplay, Atmosphere/Environments all top notch.
Story/Plot: I can see what they are trying to accomplish and it's not exactly as bad as some people are saying. Definitely no masterpiece either.
The odd story pacing and the back and forth btwn the characters actually undermines any emotional attachments you get for the characters. I also have to mention, this plot is so similar to some of ...

The story is a case of your classic asian drama cliche. If you watch enough Korean dramas, this is exactly like it. Puts me to sleep. Im happy for the ppl who have no experienced this type of store before though. I myself think it's not as good as ppl think it is.
if you play the full royal edition, there is no way you can say it's the worst Final Fantasy game. FF13 is up there though.
You're giving the story too much praise. It's not as good as you think it is. It's great that you think it's a masterpiece, can't stop you. But you shouldn't ignore all the blatant problems the game has. Did you know you can abuse your way through survivor with stealth kills and dodge spamming? Laughable gameplay design.
Keep praising this game to the moon guys, the fact is, it is a good game not a masterpiece. All these sheeps jumping on the bandwagon trying to defend it. Story is alright, characters are not memorable, horrendous pacing and gameplay you literally spam dodge and abust stealth kills to win survivor difficulty. It's terrible gameplay design, put me to sleep.
1. Their salary is no where near what it is in the US
2. it's a 2nd game in the series, they know how to asset flip/reuse effectively, much of the systems and fundamentals have already been done in the first game, iteration is always cheaper than making something brand new.
3. it doesn't have to pay royalty to any IPs (Spiders/Marvel, GTA/music brands, etc)
4. Small marketing budget
