They can buy anything they want if SE will sell it.

God of War teaches gamers how to grow up, become a man, an adult and become a better person , a better parent or a better god.
Mario teaches gamers how to never grow up, stay the same kid inside since childhood, never mature, a kid trapped inside a man's body and that is why Nintendo is still in business - they want millions of kids to become Peter Pans all their lives.
This is why I will never recomend Nintendo kiddie games to any child.

The side mission stories are so well made they are so much fun to do as it adds so much to the overall story's build up with Kratos impending battles towards Ragnarok!!!!!
How Kratos is gonna affect Norse mythology is larger than life!
The premise that we all have an idea of how the story is gonna end makes the wait very interesting and exciting as well.
Like I hear that "never gets old" phrase in most reviews I watched.
And it surely does not get old.

And Nintrndo is known copying the PSP with the Switch.
And don't forget that the PlayStation was created by Nintendo with full R&D and funding. So obviously a lot of Nintendo's DNA is in PlayStation.
