The game wont run in 720p though. But it doesnt matter since its on a 5 inch screen. It doesnt look as good as Uncharted 3 but it still looks just as good as many games on xbox 360 and PS3.

Uhm guys. When a game gets a 5/10 its usually crap. Basing something on only one review is not the best idea but not basing your purchase on reviews at all is just stupid. When games score low it is for a reason, and its not because the reviewer has slightly different taste then you. In most cases its because the game sucks

360 was supposed to have 256mb of ram though, but they actually upgraded it to 512mb. So its funny that you mention that. If they had not done that, then 360 games would not look nearly as good as they do today.
Lets hope a downgrade of the NGP ram will not have the same effect as 360 having 256mb of ram would have had. Because that would have been an Epic fail

Noone is developing games only for the most high end phones. You want to make your game run on as many phones as possible.

The article stated that it has 128mb of vram. nothing about the other 512mb not being availible to/used by developers. I think its fair to assume developers were using everything availible to them unless sony told them not to since they might cut half the ram.
if you put to little ram in a gaming device it wont be able to produce as good graphics as it could and you are basically wasting processing power. Then you might aswell go with a weaker processor/gpu.
They are not cheap to buy but they dont cost nearly as much to produce. An iphone 4 cost about 180$ to produce yet they sell it for 600$+

When they optimize the engine it wont need 3 cards to run those graphics. 1 580GTX will be more then enough.
PC probably could do those graphics if someone made a really optimized game specifically for high end PCs. But thats not going to happen. We wont see true next gen games until next generation xbox and playstation arrive.
Metro 2033 is a horribly unoptimized game though. A true optimized game for high end PCs would look a generation beyond current gen games, however no such game is being made. There are definately benefits with having a high end PC. Games look so much sharper then the often blurred out experiences you get on consoles.

Well by the end of this year GPUs will have a die shrink and we will likely see GPUs with up to 6 billion transistors. Thats twice as much as a GTX580. By the time next generation platforms arrive in the end of 2013 or in 2014 we might be seing another die shrink allowing GPUs with up to 12 billion transistors.

Which is why this article is so stupid. There is no way a 60fps game on current generation will look anywhere close to a normal 30fps game on next generation platforms. Rage looks very impressive for a 60 fps game, but to call it next gen is utterly stupid as its not even the best looking game on consoles. Far from it actually.
It will be exciting to see Doom 4 though as it will be running on the same engine with 30fps instead of 60. I expect that game to look insane.

I think there was a discussion like this last year actually. Turned out the conference was the normal 2 hours. Maybe a little shorter even.
