You pretty much just summed up my thoughts.
Fully agree. Especially about meta including seemingly random sites. That irks me. And also ditching certain sites from certain reviews.
Those scores make me sad :(. Its almost undeniable hate for Sony exclusive games there if you take into account the average scores and how far away these scores are.
Even with the excuse of using the "real" ranking scale (where 1 = bad, 5 = average and 10 = perfect) if you compare the ratings of similar games it comes up out of whack.
Gaming media is going down the toilet no thanks to blogs and small websites.
To some people that logic might hold. I don't have a problem with random review scores being more than a standard deviation away from the mean but come on, they shouldn't be included in aggregates if they are so far out. Especially when the ones that are in the range specifically aren't included.
Plus these guys are nobodies. Why are they even on Metacritic who pride themselves on choosing "reputable sources"?
How was that up in like 2 seconds? Also, what's up with the lack of high reviews. Meta is worthless.
Hah, I see your point about inconsistency. I have better things to do than read google translated webpages to find other scores though so I just took it at its merits.
I'm pretty sure a phantom disagreer just rolled through 95% of the comments here. Just sayin'.
This time you play an air freshener particle and you have to freshen different environments...
YES! Please give us a new Parappa!
The reviewer has a right to his/her opinion. My opinion on the demo was very positive. If the demo is indicative of the full game then it deserves a much higher score than this (and sure enough 95% of reviews gave it 8+)
Most of you only have 2 bubbles. I wonder why?
If they don't have anything good I'm going to be really disappointed. I'm really tired of hearing about Alan Wake and Forza. Anything, anything but those two at least so discussion on this site can evolve.
Yeah inFamous' graphics are good. Bit of pop-in and jaggies but overall you don't even notice during the action! The awesome gameplay balances any shortcoming in the graphics department.
Aliasing on the PS3 could use some work but sub-HD? You're on crack. PS3 has way more 60fps, 1080p games than 360...I can't even name a 360 game.
SL1M is right, I wouldn't go so far as to say that it is biased against Sony but it sure does like to include less from the top than the bottom.
then why the hell are they on Metacritic? Seriously, sometimes I think that site just accepts any review on an end of the spectrum that doesn't have much support.
He's just practicing to be a politician!
Too true.
Now that there are various "pre-defined" genres like FPS, TPS and RTS developers can choose to recycle these. This is often cheaper and the devs have the knowledge that there is already an established group who like the genre as is.
Thus developers don't innovate as much which means that games are worse in a lot of criteria.
What I meant is by getting closer to reality is that it will be getting closer to playing a character in a movie. The game's identity will come through by how they use certain effects just like movies differ through cinematography.
It's nice to see that everyone in the console market are serious competitors. That just ends up benefiting the consumer.
Hoping to see strong sales for all 3 consoles well into the future. Especially through this "economic downturn".
