Sorry, what Halo game did they release last year? and what did they release in 2006? and how can you bash DLC? do you not want new maps and updates for a game?
Fable 2 did sell over a million, as did games like Ninja Gaiden 2. Also when the COD series on the 360 outsells the COD series on the PS3 by 3-1 and Madden and GTA4 outselss 2-1 you can't really say that its a reliance on Halo. But as for first party releases then yes they do rely on Halo, and that is a problem that may be fixed with the 3 secret Rare titles in development.
I'm starting to get bored of these articles. Its like saying Nintendo rely too much on Mario, or Sony rely too much on Killzone or God of War. We're gamers, so if good games are released no matter what franchise they are based on we're all winners. Nobody said "oh no, another Metal Gear game" when MGS4 came out. It was a brilliant game, and by the looks of it Halo ODST will be as well.
Well I'm glad both are selling, as I'm a gamer. Thats why I'm on a site called news for gamers. not news for fanboys. both games are good, get over it.

well the fact that halo wars broke records for the most downloaded demo on xbox live means that there are a lot less people out there who don't know that its an RTS. Maybe people like the game? weird huh, people trying a demo and enjoying the game. next thing we know the game will be getting good reviews too. oh my god it has! what is the world coming to, a good game being top of some chart or other. mental.
This is the best console RTS I have played so far, although I do have fond memories of Red Alert 2 on the PSone. I hope the full game contains more units than the demo. Also does anyone know what the deal is with the flood in this game? I heard they were confirmed to feature.
Master Chief is a spartan and you can control spartans as a unit. They all do the same things as Master Chief too. Check them out boarding wraiths and ghosts.
This is the game that could make me bite the bullet and buy a ps3. The trailer was awesome, but I'm hoping that the gameplay is equally as good. The trailer sort of makes the game look more reliant on quick time events than the previous two, but fingers crossed that you have full control over kratos.
Just played the demo, and it does look amazing, but WTF is up with the controls? the aiming is way off. also have to agree with the review in the use of fps cliches. especially "hide behind this tank and pick up this rocket launcher". didn't we do that on both next gen call of duty's? and whats with the boat entrance? how many times have we done that in fps's? and why can't I control my character during that scene?? hopefully the rest of the game is not so cliched, and the controls ...
What people have to remember is that Frank O Connor is the head of Microsoft's Halo studio. Its like Hideo Kojima leaving Konami to work for Sony yet still making metal gear games, so if Microsoft give Frank O Connor total creative control on the franchise and he chooses which outside studios work on which titles the series should be in safe hands.
And with the Star Wars analogy, Empire Strikes Back is the best of the original trilogy, and Revenge of the Sith is the best of the prequel...

I agree. looks a bit like rainbow 6 vegas meets doom. The use of several powers could be a novel concept for once. (or it could be a re-hash of fears slo mo, I'm hoping for the former).
I just hope they get rid of crab walking and the shield + power weapon exploit. I don't know how many times its sudden death or I'm going for the leader kill in Guardian and some turd pulls these glitches out the bag. But i do still love the multiplayer.
Can people please stop saying that microsoft are milking the halo franchise. there have only been 3 previous halo games, can people tell me how many metal gear games have been released? I'm looking forward to the new direction that the series is taking, and halo wars could do to the RTS what halo CE did for the FPS. i'm also intrigued by KZ2, it could prompt me to by a ps3. I hope both games sell well for gaming as a whole.
I played Killzone 2 on my friends PS3 and its made me buy the console as I can now finally afford to. but I still prefer halo 3 multiplayer. does that make me an idiotic fanboy? no, its just a personal preference, and I think a lot of you need to realise that just because someone likes a game you don't need to impose your flawed fanboy logic onto them.
