I hate it but I do see games being delivered like this as a standard in the future. But with most IP's data caps Its just not a justifiable buy in this day and age. More and more 4K tv sets are being bought and people want to experience that, but not at the cost of risking a higher net bill for going over their cap.
They can just go for the offline version of 4k gaming, game streaming has to be rewarding financially...

Every youtuber and twitch streamer I’ve seen are enjoying the game. Yeah they have criticisms for the hand holding at most, but they have enjoyed it.

One thing I hated with Sony was just all the proprietary crap even though there were things that already existed that served the same function.
Even their digital cameras at one time used a sony type card I think and sd cards existed that worked just the same and more universally available.
I’m not really a fan of proprietary accessories, but if this is what they’re doing I just hope they’re more readily available and cheap unlike the vita memory cards.
