We don't know specs, or anything about what this online service will feature, and so people are drawing their own conclusions (of course, most are just trolls looking for any reason to shit on Nintendo because they're poor, miserable !@#$% to begin with).

I'm hoping that's why they're waiting until Fall to start charging for the service. To give 3rd parties time to get their games released.
It's up to Nintendo to demonstrate the service is worth the money. I sure as hell won't be subscribing to get two free rentals a month, that I can tell you. Not sure who the hell at Nintendo made that call, but they need to be fired.
The app is not paid, it comes with the service when you subscribe.

PC is an open platform with competing services whereas playstation, xbox one, and Switch are closed platforms. Simply put, they charge you because they can.
