keep in mind that the source code for a game seldom exceeds 10% of all the data...the rest is mostly graphics/animation/textures/au dio and so on...

Which is not true, if you remember well, ps3 outsold the x360 on a year basis, and since her start even if it was much more expensive. 200€ to 300€ more here in EU way back then.
This leads me to say, that while the price cut may help, more important is the general perception the people have...No matter the reasons behind these perceptions.

Just missed that outside of US and UK the xbox brand is marginal.
Just to let you know that these two country alone counted for about 70% of total xbox sales last gen.
If you add that even in these two countries the ps4 is leading now...then all is said.

People need to get that outside of the US and the UK Xbox brand sales represent less than 38% of the global sales.
Xbox brand sells well in Europe, but not near as much as Ps brand.
This is the main reason why Sony focused on these two lands, because to them the real fight is nowhere else.

Optimisations are meant to bring consoles performance closer to its theoretical maximum output, not doubling the teraflops.
Let's imagine i'll code to the metal, directly via assembly, using the best algos that there is, the best i can achieve is the theorical maximum output one machine can do...And for the Xbone it is 1.36 teraflops.

Optimisation is always possible whatever hardware you have...
But then again, optimisation is not sided with Micrososft alone, or Sony alone...
Wherever there are clevers people, you can expect optimisations to be made...So in the end of the day the 10% to 40% jump will be on both consoles.

Does not change the fact that xbone gpu is weaker...And on the soft level Sony is a way ahead.Which is kind of strange for a hardware company and tells much how Microsoft rushed their hardware.
The price has not and will not be the issue.
Folks seem to forget that last gen, PS3 cost around 200 to 300 € more and it outperforms x360 in every possible way since its debut in global sales. Only one single year x360 took the crown and it was 2008 and with a teeny weeny margin at that.
So all of this sound like bs to me, for one i don't see where the price has shown any victory to the ms brand and second ps4 is selling like hot cakes...Why on earth son...
