I only pay sale prices these days, and have done so for the last 5 years. It isn't worth it to pay full retail price on a *game*.

Sony's definitely going in a different direction than Xbox.... disappointing for those who already own the game.
The difference in corporate culture, is why Microsoft will never buy a Japanese studio.
Pretty expensive, but then again, even when you're talking about PC hardware, all NVMe SSD's are expensive, so it isn't just an Xbox thing.

Wow, this is a massive purchase! I've never been into Bethesda's games, but from a pure catalogue standpoint, this is huge.
If you have a 1080p TV and don't have the money to spend on a new TV, new console and games all at the same time, then the Series S should do just fine. The Xbox One X is still a very capable console also, which should be fine for a long time, as will the PS4 Pro, so long as Sony supports it properly.
Casual gamers or families buying consoles for their kids, will go for the cheapest console, especially if they understand the value of Game Pass. Because of the poor economic time due to the China Virus, the masses aren't going to go out and spend loads of money on video game hardware.

Look into a game called Russia 2055. It looks like the kind of jump you'd expect. Kojima teased this game a couple of years ago, but I don't think he's part of development team.
I remember turning on my PS3 when I bought it in February of 2007 (3.5 months after launch), and I was blown away by Resistance: Fall of Man. PS2 and certainly PS1 never had anything on this level for an FPS game. Later on in the year, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, GRAW2, and Rainbow Six Vegas were just mind blowing to me at the time. The following 2 years were nothing short of amazing. I have never been so thrilled with video games, other than when I got my NES as a kid.
I agree with Jaffe. With what Microsoft is now doing with Game Pass, xCloud, and continuing to invest in studios so they have a constant pipeline of high quality games, and now add Amazon, Google and Apple into the mix, Sony starts to look like a small fish.
