If you're implying more sales = better product well then the Original Xbox 360 and literally any Apple phone would like to have a word with you. In fact I would argue it's pretty rare that the best quality product sells the most, just look at the sales of TemTem vs Sword and Shield. The PS4 is actually a rare exception to this.
