i remember back in the day playing games as a kid and moving with the controller as if that would actually do something. it didn't. i just looked stupid. then a few years ago we picked up mario kart wii and ended up doing the same thing i laughed at others for doing before. how times have changed. i don't care how innovative it is, you still look...

in all seriousness though, with games getting bigger and more complex, it's surprising to say that blu-ray is NOT needed. muliple discs in exclusives like forza 3 and mass effect 2 should be reasons enough to say yes. uncompressed audio and video in final fantasy 13 says yes. the archaic disc swaps says yes. it's been 5 years microsoft and it's beginning to show.

yeah, this is why i'm getting for [insert console of choice]. besides graphical enhancements, what benefit does one get from buying this for pc? at least with the console version i could buy it, beat it, sell it, or even rent it. pc gaming sucks for this reason alone.
while some complaints may be made up, but as anyone who reads anything i write, i'm a ps3 owner/support/fan etc. and fw 3.10 messed up my bd drive. fanboys are quick to respond of course because they assume that anything negative about their said console of choice is fake. this is why i refrain from using the term fanboy as a label for myself because i have been burnt by fanboyism. don't believe i have an xbox or ps3? check my tags on both systems...
the only thing i see about your example is the fact that aside from the memory card, you did not need a network adapter, or a hard drive, or much of anything else to play 99.9% of the games available on the ps2. that's a far cry from what microsoft is doing with the xbox 360. sure you *may not* need a HDD or wireless adapter to play the games, but when you technically have to pay $50 a year to experience half of the content in most games (multiplayer), when the other guy charges nil and inc...
