I doubt we will see PS5 until 2020 around November if we go by the previous releases.
Maybe even later. Games take long time to put together. When it arrives however 4K will be almost guaranteed as native push over 1080p which still dominates today and it will continue until good quality 4K TV became a norm.
Today, lucky few can afford one but it will be few years until it's mainstream.
Hardware optimization for the console is different then core PC. The term "core to the metal" applies great techniques in consoles where you aren't being restricted to the Operating System. You can really code your game engine with the console and get fantastic results with lesser hardware then on the PC.
I fully except Scorpio and Pro to deliver 4K, checkboarding or not it will look great.
It's OK, when PS5 is announced and it's a next generation hardware that will make Scorpio look outdated then Sony will boost their chest. And the cycle will continue years after years.
Happy to hear the Scorpio specs are great. I personally own a PS4 Pro and good PC but those Scorpio Specs are really nice.
Depending on the price I might skip upgrading my PC and add the second console.
Honestly, now I' am waiting to see how much will it sell for.

What frame rate issues on PS4? You mean it drops from 60fps to 54fps on occasion?
I'm on the Pro so i haven't noticed any issues. As for the pc I have Gtx 970 and the game runs great.
From 60 fps to 50? In few areas for few seconds? Yes, we should all sell our PS4 and Pro and get a PC were you need 980gtx which alone costs a entire console price for that lovely performance.
I won't even include the rest of the components and their price required..
Quick note, I also have good PC that out weight 's the PS4 and know very well how much money you need to match PS4 Pro in steady performance.

Of course the console is more powerful - it will be released almost a year later then PS4 Pro.
Now I wouldn't say it will put it Pro to shame especially considering what we have seen with Horizon Zero Dawn can deliver. I believe Scorpio will have good looking games, mostly multi platform games with few rare exclusives during its course - but nothing that PS4 Pro won't be able to keep up with.

I can recommend Horizon Zero Dawn to any action RPG fan, it's a fantastic game. I haven't played the new Zelda yet but from all the gameplay I have seen in the last few days it a must play title. I will get the Switch next year when more games are released.

I have a Wii U and Ps4 Pro and I can't wait to trade in my Wii U for the Switch. I love the Wii U gamepad which essentially let's my family use TV free while I'm on the Ps4.
Its one of my favorite features I will utilize with the Switch. Portable convenience is a superb move which pretty much improves the Wii U gamepad. Exactly what I needed.
There is no point in arguing over the Switch it will be a great addition to any PC, PS4 or Xbox One ...

While I will eventually get the Switch it won't be this year. I already pre ordered and fully paid for Horizon. It's going to be fantastic game.
Eh, honestly i own a decent gaming pc and I always had one console complementing the machine. Mostly PS1 to now PS4. When you can get a console for a less then above average video card upgrade there is no reason for pc gamer not to have ps4 attached to their gaming rig... That way you can enjoy the exclusives and Nioh.
