They literally just released a new IP. You can't possibly expect them to shit out new IPs for every game they make. New IPs are insanely hard to make, because they don't even get to TRY the game until 6 months to a year into development.
I didn't even know people had a problem with what happened to Paz (spoilers ahead). If a guy where to get blown up, with a bomb in HIS stomach, nobody would bitch. People need to stop complaining. Hard-hitting topics and themes are what games need to elevate to the next level, in the public eye anyway (I think they're already at the "it's more than just a game for kids" level, because I game, obviously).

Look, eventually, if they remake Metal Gear 1 and 2 in the Fox Engine, which Kojima said he'd like to do, then Big Boss and Solid Snake need to be different characters. The first step to this is different voice actors.

We've only had one last-gen game ported to next gen, which was Tomb Raider. Last gen ports really aren't an issue.
