The lifespan of a console really doesn't matter to me. When they release the next generation of consoles it will be the same as it is now. I will buy them, as will many people, and chances are they will all play my old games. How many people (who own a PS3, 360, and a Wii) still play on their old systems?
After a while you get tired of saying "wait till next year".

Why do people constantly bash things that, to me, they don't really know about? PS network costs to buy things (downloadable games, maybe furniture/items for your "HOME"...) PC costs to buy things (downloadable games, expansion packs, music, movies, and yes even some wallpapers and screensavers). I'm not saying you can't get some of the things I listed for free, (legally, mind you) you can. You can also get some things free on Live. The things that I try and I like, I buy.
So, you do know that there have been other "black consoles" in the past. My Atari was black and I don't remember there being a playstation back then. Killzone 2? A threat? You know Halo is like the highest grossing entertainment ever, Right? Wikipedia, look it up.
