In my game store I was first out! there was no line just a mass amount of people huddled in a shop.
They outsold the Xbox One nearly 2:1 with just pre-payments.
Nothing to do with quality it's to do with separating their fan base. Surely, releasing on the PS3 is a great thing but to not announce a PS4 version as well will just cause a lot of players to miss out.

A work colleague ordered an Xbone with Tesco and was told the 40 people that ordered have to collect their raffle ticket and attend a 00:00 launch where they have 5 consoles only. If your number gets picked you get to pay for your preorder, if not tough luck.
Never buy with Tesco in store :D
