It absolutely will not go free to play. Square is making far too much money to make it F2P. Plus, they aren't losing subscribers, they are gaining more.
If you were informed, you'd know that all of these things they are selling are cosmetic only. All the best gear is acquired by playing the game.

Well, I think the answer here is yes and no. It really all panders to the target audience of the game.
For example, Call of Duty can be rather volatile. Still doesn't stop my fiance from being more excited about it than me!
A game like FFXIV is very user friendly and I actually find a very even split between male and female players. The female players actually tend to be better at raiding than my male friends! Just an interesting trend I've noticed.

Yep. The pvp is really the only thing I want to go back to. But its horribly unbalanced with certain gun perks. I dunno, the pve cash be fun, but there just isn't enough of it.
Oh well, I'm sure plenty of people will go back when the expansion comes out. In the mean time, I'll play a real MMO that actually lets me network with players.
