The fox engine was used for PT silent hills PES Ground Zeros and Phantom pain. But back to your car engine analogy. I know the words publicity stunt can carry a negative connotation. But I don't see it that way. If Sony was out giving kids with cancer free ps4s purely for the publicity of it then that in my opinion is bad. But announcing to gamers that you're partnering with one of the most legendary game devs sure its gonna get tons of publicity and that's not bad because everybody wins and we all know whoever grabbed kojima would've done exactly the same.
Of course it is but it's a good one. And one that shows Sony knows exactly what PlayStation owners want.

I was just using Unreal engine as an example and yea the deal they announced was for one game but when asked about future games and what not Sony gave a bunch of non answers (understandably so). Which makes me curious.
Fun fact kojima was very hands on in the development of peace walker. Its safe to say he didn't start MGSV development till after that. But even more you have to remember that Kojima developed the fox engine in that time to which is no easy task. The real question here is "Will Kojima be building his own engine or will he be using an existing one ala Unreal Engine 4?" Yea I've played p3 however I have not played the side story fes came with, "the answer". I liked p3 a lot but p4 was the first time I felt emotionally attached to pretty much the whole cast of characters.

No last of us was actually painstakingly redone and retextured. These games are just running on a better emulator with trophies. Mind you that all these games can be run at a higher resolution on my pc and I'm not even a pc gamer so my pc is really nothing special
