Lets be realistic here, the 3DS was doing well before the Vita came out. The Vita has never really competed well with it since even I will tell you this and I love mine to death.
Android gaming systems were never competition for anyone so even mentioning things like the shield or ouya are such a moot point, they never have and I honestly don't think they ever will be competition.

You might want to replace your 3DS battery if that is the case. Sleep mode consumes less power bottom line, of course it consumes more power than if you just turned it off but your 3DS should last a couple days in sleep mode even with wireless on.
I leave mine in sleep mode all the time for streetpass hits. Sadly haven't gotten a single one with the years I have had my 3DS but I will just assume no one leaves their 3DS in sleep mode like I do or that my area just blows ...
Maybe in sleep with the wireless off and that is a big maybe. My XL has lasted to the third day with wireless on and I have tested this, mind you in complete sleep mode without any usage.
I love my 3DS XL but the battery life honestly blows, yes... blows compared to my PS Vita. The Vita oddly has a bigger battery even though the 3DS XL has more space for a bigger battery than the PS Vita does.
I can play my PS Vita for a good 6-7 hours with the most demanding...

Not only do carpets conduct heat very well, they also make static electricity. So great, damage your system or just burn your house down.
If this person had cared to read the manual of the expensive electronics they buy, they would have seen it already warns you not to put it on carpet for several reasons.

For anyone saying the carpet doesn't matter. Read your freaking manual, every console known to man tells you in the manual not to place it on the carpet or surfaces that conduct heat. Let alone you could cause static problems that could permanently damage your system.

I don't know how many times I have had explain something so simple but 4k-8k textures is nothing special, it really isn't. So many games use higher textures if not more these days even back on PS3 and Xbox 360.
You are getting textures and native resolutions totally confused. I never understood people bragging about things they literally have no concept of.

I personally prefer the yearly fee or couple months, how PS+ is done now. I think it should also be as simple as including it with a higher tier PS+ plan. I got enough bills to worry about paying each month, I really don't need anymore, not as if it would be a deal breaker but I hope it is yearly.
Every year is just much easier to keep track of and much better for those who are tight on money without extra to spend each month.
