Got this on a psn sale after all the great things I heard. Put a few hours into it then lost interest. Maybe it takes some time for the substance to kick in but as it stands I don't know what people loved so much about this game

That's only an accurate claim for default reasons. There is a lot more 3rd party games so of course more people are playing them. They play no part in favoring one console over the other though.
The only reason I hope this does well is to have significant competition that keeps sony on their toes. They put out games that simply cannot be matched but no competition could let them become cocky and start slipping.
