I think the FTC have a good argument. But with Sony increasing prices and other sub services in general before MS it's not hard for them to spin the price hikes and new tiers as just part of an industry trend and not due to the merger.

If nobody else was raising prices or experimenting with tiers then they wouldn't have a leg to stand on, but they are.

Like Governments burying bad news on big news days, MS can use the current industry wide trouble...

They're not wrong.

But with MS main competitor Sony raising PS Plus prices roughly 30% across all tiers last September and in general sub services hiking prices or experimenting with different tiers like ones with ads (probably coming to GP soon) I think they won't have trouble arguing they're not doing anything others aren't who haven't just shelled out massively for mergers.

But when it's done on the unprecedented size and scale ...

This sites weird for replying. I can't directly reply to your reply to my reply to MrNinosan so have to reply again to your orignal reply.

If I decided to buy 12m Ultimate right now it would cost me £98. 12m Premium £107. If these reduced codes were to disappear than your point would stand and knowing MS they would probably try that. But as of today I can buy 12m Ultimate for £10 cheaper than Premium.

In the Uk through either CD Keys or Shopto Ultimate can be had for £98.36 and Premium £107.

I'd swap all the other PS Plus features for day one Sony games. They're both good services TBH and £13.49/£15 seems about fair for what you get.

556d ago 2 agree19 disagreeView comment

In the UK it's £24.59 from CD keys for 3m Ultimate. The rules change in September and you'll only be allowed to stack 13m. 12m though can still be bought currently for £98.36.

The cheapest way to get PS Plus Premium here is to buy discounted PSN vouchers from CD Keys or Shopto. The £120 you need to buy 12m of PS Plus Premium is £107. So it's still currently cheaper here to get Ultimate for 12m cheaper than Premium.

In the UK PS Plus Premium is £13.49 a month. You don't get EA Play or any of Sony's games day one. The new price of £15 for Ultimate still compares extremely favourably against Sony's offering.

Na, not on my watch. I'm gonna play SoT or Apex on Steam and not put up with this account linking Sony BS.

I think you always have to be wary of censorship for the wrong reasons like pandering to ratings boards from countries with draconian views, interfering with the devs vision or appeasing an angry mob who should stay offended.

But I think people see the SB changes in the view of some larger fight against wokeism, cancel culture or the tip of some evil censorship iceberg etc... when it really doesn't belong there.

When you look at the patched version th...

Can't say fairer than returning the money to those who are upset.

If punters do get refunds though I hope they continue to support Shift Up and buy it physical and unpatched and show their annoyance at Sony in other ways. I have bought mine with PSN credit and have a digital PS5 so won't be refunding as I want Shift Up to get my money still.

Although I'd rather the console makers left the devs well alone on decisions like this that's not r...

All the DLC is now there with a PS5/PS4 tag as well. I had to "repurchase that" for free too as I own the PS4 versions.

Yeah I had the PS4 version installed and it started downloading a 9 gig patch for that. But if you go to Fallout 4 in the store and click on the three dots next to the game you can pick the native PS5 version, which shows as free for me owning the PS4 version.

Actually I think when I went to the store I didn't have to select a version. It just said free PS5 upgrade where the price normally is.

It just popped up on the UK PSN store as a native PS5 download of 56 gigs. I had the PS4 version installed in case it just patched that but it is it's own download.

Not sure if that download includes the DLC's though which I own, think it's just the base game. At the moment there's no separate PS5 DLC download options. But might just take a bit for it to be added.

They offer free 3 day postage by Royal Mail tracked 48 and only charge £1 for Royal Mail 24 shipping. The Game Collection is a well established trusted online retailer in the UK who also have an Ebay store. This price is had by using an Ebay Jan promo code with hundreds of stores participating.

Using the same Ebay code Infinite Wealth is also just £43.16 on the same store and Tekken 8 £47.16. Both in stock.

It's not been reduced to that price, it's £55 on the store which is the cheapest I've seen it for in the UK. It's that price using a Ebay wide £20% off Jan promotional code valid until tomorrow that can be used on hundreds of Ebay stores. The same store has Tekken 8 for £58 and you can get it for £46.40 with the code.

Pre-order codes also aren't uncommon in the UK. Curry's is very good for them often having up to 25% off for pre-o...

@repsahj No one is arguing against that they are both potential GOTY games. We're arguing if there's some sort of industry kiss assery going on, Nintendo getting a free pass etc.., that SM2 gets labelled and copy and paste but ToTK doesn't by many.

For me SM2 is a skin on a game that Sony has been making for over a generation which was already derivative of a many other games using a Ubisoft open world coupled with Arkham combat.

Whereas BoTW...

Seven of the games listed are available on PS and six are on Xbox so they're well represented. I'm guessing you're alluding to exclusives but neither Sony or MS had a great year there.

Sony just released SM2 and many of Xbox's first party games didn't quite deliver like Starfield and Redfall. Hi Fi Rush I personally liked a lot but in such a strong year I'm not surprised if it doesn't make many peoples top ten.

Spider-man 2 is a template Sony has used for many open world games - Spider-man, Miles Morales, HZD, HZD - Forbidden West, Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima. It's a template already very derivative of Ubisoft games and many other games.

BoTW with it's physics systems and level of environmental interactivity genuinely brought something fresh to open world gaming. TOTK improved and added more ideas to that concept than all those Ubisoft clones together over the span of ove...

Great game but not GOTY for me. The survival combat wasn't the best and pretty aggravating on hard. It had way too many cheap jump scares in it. Saga's mind place case wall had less gameplay interaction than QTE's and I also felt you were going in and out of it too much.

Alan's sections I loved. It has the best part of the game by a mile in it. But in general I liked the gameplay mechanics of the Lamp and Story Board. I also felt narratively it's was mu...
