Time before release is crucial I agree. Thing is, I've seen so many people complain about for example the Division Beta servers going down for maintenance (and then saying they wont but they game anymore) when the open beta was clearly aimed to stress-test servers before release.
Timing is an important aspect I completely agree. Also, as noted in the article, the state of the game during a "beta test" should be made extremely clear by the developers and also what their intention with a beta test is.
Playing it for the past week and i have to agree, it is one of the best experiences I have ever had. From a Soul's vet, I think it is the best one yet!

Its because they thought they where getting something different, like an old-school arena shooter. From iD saying they are going "back to their roots" and all that, I can understand that the game didnt meet up to their expectations.
Still, I love the game myself, just isn't DOOM. Feels like COD or Halo.
Really depends on the game. The witcher 3 for example has more great story / exciting stuff in a sidequest than some games have in their main quest.
However, depends on the person, MGSV for me got boring and stale.
For some reason this game has been flying under my radar. Amped to try it out though, never played the first one.

Agreed! No reason to not bring it to PC, will generate more sales and hopefully it will be as the developer says, not just a simple port but really utilizing the pc's superior hardware
Yah, there have been too many quick console ports as of late. I would rather wait for a year for a proper PC version. Good point about the real-time combatty FF gameplay. I do like it though, but prefer the old style.
DOOM gonna be so gud! Can't wait for the super-fast paced custom maps! And no player loadout, so happy right now
