What JRPG needs are bigger budgets.
I don't think SE would just outsource their flagship title as simple as that.
That being said, it wouldn't be weird if they outsourced certain aspects of it, like a different studio could do some of the modelling, motion capture, effects, etc, but as far as the game itself, it would have to be done internally. SE doesn't create engines or have their own team of artists and programmers, just so they could send the work somewhere else.
This is why I prefer the Japanese style of "fantasy" RPG. It's so... Fantastical. And unique.
That said, this tech demo better mean something for final fantasy.
"Why is Japan so close minded when it comes to non-japanese consoles?"
Are they obligated to buy non-Japanese consoles just to show they're not close minded? What's wrong with wanting to support a system made in your own country?
That being said, I don't think that's even the point. Some people *did* buy the 360 version of the game. There simply aren't that many 360 users vs PS3 users in Japan to begin with, so most of the sales we...
Oohhh wow. My favorite RPG series... Suikoden!
Only thing is, it doesn't seem to be part of the main canonical timeline... I wonder if it's part of the DS series though... Nonetheless, this is a good step for the franchise. Go Suikoden!
Well, to be able to do a speed run through the game in the first place, you must've played it tons of hours beforehand to be able to memorize how to do puzzles, know where to go, and practice practice practice, before you could simply breeze through it.
So prior to this '3.3 hours', a nornal person would've have put in a significant number of hours just practicing and learning.
That sounds promising.
Maybe It's because it is a game targeted at a younger audience? :P
I know the setting in Versus XIII is inspired by Tokyo, but did they simple made it Tokyo-ish or are actual places in the game real places in Japan?
I vaguely remember Nomura saying that the streets he use to go to work are the same streets in the game... but I'm not sure about this. Can anyone confirm?
I think there are two groups of people on the net regarding FFXIII. Those that 'try' to hate it so much and those that 'try' to like it so much. :P
"attempt western third person action mechanics with elements of a traditional Japanese Rpg."
What is so western about third person action? There are tons of third person action games from Japan. Even from the RPG genre.
Why does it seem like... this is what FFXII (12, not 13) was supposed to be?
Lol, a reboot? You can pretty much say it's rebooted at every game.
I think the writers intenionally let their audience figure out these developments along the way, instead of it being super secret plot twists. It's part of the fun.
"...However, I get the feeling that in terms of the characters' positions, FFIX most closely resembles it." -Sakaguchi on The Last Story.
Being a big FFIX fan, this is nice to hear. :D still don't like that it's not on an HD console though.
From what I understood in the trailer, apparently there have been murders and all that end up dead are men who 'cheated' on their women. Vincent's group of friends goes on and talks about it. Then later it cuts to Catherine telling vincent "I won't forgive you if you ever cheated on me." in a really creepy voice (when we all know vincent already has a fiancee; the woman with glasses named Katherine). Then he got a weird phone call (and I think one of his friends is s...
I dont think SE can get any worse than they've been.
Maybe it's gonna be uphill from here on. With versus and kh3, they cant really make the same mistakes... Right?
not in your choice of examples you're not.
Did they base Noctis' design on a japanese actor/singer?
He looks a bit familiar... Hmmm.
Final Fantasy Versus Lightning.
