Here's the real reason: Piracy is rampant on the 3DS and the system is ancient; at some point you just have to let the system die.
After they lied about and ruined the Rhapsody DS port I'll never buy another NISA product again.
Really? Your only gripe about Ni No Kuni 2? Not the boring plot, the ugly overworld, the 150+ fetch quests, the copy-paste caves, the lack of voice acting, the crummy text size, or the combat worse than your average Musou game?
The character art is fantastic, what little voice acting present is great, and the simplistic kingdom building and army battles are a fun, but the game is getting way too much praise simply because Ghibli's name is vaguely attached to it. It'...
Yakuza is one of the few Japanese-only dubs I'll give a pass to; it actually takes place in a pair(?) of real Japanese cities as far as I'm aware. Games set in fictional places should be properly dubbed for the regions where the largest amount of sales occur, which ends up being Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and of course English.
How do you know the English dub is so bad you'll never want to hear it? How do you know a Japanese dub will even be good? If you hate the English language so much why not learn glorious Nipponese and play the Nippon version?
How big of a weeb do you have to be to prefer a non-existent Japanese voice track over the English one you've barely heard?
Publishers never learn. July and August have nothing and they'll all be crying about losing sales to Red Dead in October.
Nostalgia goggles for a game that wasn't fun.
Too bad its not on the Switch. I'm done with the 3DS, its been long enough, let the system go.
Game would be infinitely better if the white swimsuits functioned properly.
Let the 3DS die. It's been long enough, someone has to do it.
Talk about keeping your standards extremely low. Both games are bunk.
What a joke.
Yeah I wish they would have added cool costumes instead of the cheapo swimsuit DLC every Japanese game has these days. How about an original VC costume set? Even sets based on other Sega franchises would have been better than just swimsuits, like Yakuza costumes or Phantasy Star I-IV costumes.
You might even say the mods here are ridickulous.
Gameplay
No, they sold satisfactory. Worldwide the sequels never reached the number the original sold, because Sega only attempted to appeal to Japan after the first game and made a lame anime schoolkids PSP game. Had they capitalized on their success in the West rather than appeal solely to the Japanese the series would be in a great position right now; instead it almost died with the complete trash that was Revolution.
People seem to have forgotten the Valkyria Chronicles timeline:
The original sold poorly in Japan but great in the West due to word of mouth alone; no advertisements whatsoever. To appeal to Japan more, they made the sequel an anime-schoolkids trope game on the PSP, which sold a little better in Japan but completely bombed everywhere else. Then they tried to go back to the roots, but kept it on PSP because Japan is all that matters to Sega. It bombed so hard they didn't...
You do have to choose. Consoles and even PC don't magically have infinite processing power.
Yup. Two months of basically no releases, and then Sega will complain about low sales when this is inevitably stacked against giants afterward.
