DICE do not sling mud, they create phenomenal games that speak for themselves. They don't NEED to sling mud.

They aren't the only ones that can make a decent Silent Hill game, they just set the standard. I'm pretty sure Vatra Games can do a good job if they aren't rushed. I do miss the greatness of the original Silent Hill games, but Penumbra and Amnesia have replaced Silent Hill for me this generation.
I hated Resistance 2. It just felt like it was all over the place with its multiplayer modes, and the campaign was so disappointing after playing Fall of Man.

I'm pretty sure publishers decide on whether or not something will be free. Don't blame Sony, blame Square Enix.
Also, I loved Stacking. Why does it matter less just because it isn't as popular as Resident Evil? It was still a completely FREE game.

GTA IV was very disappointing to me, the game tried to be too realistic. I enjoyed Saints Row 2 much more. It felt like the old school GTA titles.
I'll be buying SR3 on day one. I'll wait and see what Rockstar does with GTA V before buying.
