This is news? Why WOULDN'T it work?
Not to mention the fact that changing the geometry would still destroy the UV maps...My wife is a 3d animator, she was annoyed at exactly how NOT revolutionary this is.
This is actually why Sony has an advantage this time around (related to security). If you're technically inclined, I recommend reading the Cell-BE technical documentation over at IBM: http://www.ibm.com/develope...
I'll summarize for those that don't want to take the time:
The PS3 (Cell) uses a HARDWARE security system with several fail-safes:
...
I don't know, I'm more than doubtful it would support Direct X. There is hardly any D3D support in the Windows Mobile market right now (so why would MS suddenly have such in-depth API support for a "rival" developer?). I'm also unsure why it seems to have 2 processors...though, I admit I'm not familiar with the ARM946E-S. Everything else seems plausible...I would expect it to be more powerful though, to render out 3d frames.
Also confirmed.
Confirmed working PS3 North America
I got what you meant anyway.
Wonder why we're getting so many disagrees on this one
I'm having the same reaction right now, It doesn't seem like it should be that big of a deal, but it's preventing me from getting hyped about this one.
@RememberThe357: At this point it kind of seems like a new character with the same name. I would have been FINE with a new character if they decided to go that way, it just seems a little odd to revamp a character people have already built (probably) two play-through's worth of time with.
It says the key is expired or not valid...very odd
What is al the hype about this firmware? It's no secret, it's not even hidden. Sony has this stuff on display at their retail stores. You can play a PS3 with the 3d firmware.
When I went to a SonyStyle they had Wipeout, have to say it was pretty amazing.
Sadly it's not going to be backwards compatible with older sets. Sony really wants you to buy a new TV. You also have battery powered glasses for it. If you've seen a movie in RealD it's comparable to that but the overall image quality and color is much better (than reald). It's up to you if you want to buy one, personally, I would wait a while. I doubt they'll sell as well as Sony hopes, so the price will likely drop fast.
Also, small bit of info: according to the sales man, all...
I didn't look at the version number, but the 3d firmware is already on demo units in SonyStyle stores. I got to play Wipeout in 3d...I have to say, it was MUCH cooler than I expected.
This is stupid. The Americans with Disabilities act does not apply to this
I'm not sure, I'll have to check one of the agreements in a manual. I know that by default you "agree" to a game's agreement by playing it. If you refuse to update, you can still play offline (unless the update is on the game disk).
But don't you have to agree to the license agreement before installing it--the one that says sony is not responsible for damages?
Edit:
To clarify, wouldn't this mean it can't hold up in court (whether-or-not sony should replace/repair the units)?
Buy it used. That'll show 'em.
No kidding. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
This is dumb. It's analyzing a recorded video...videos are encoded at a constant framerate. 29.97 or 30fps usually. I edit video all the time for my job.
Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not posting FOR or AGAINST GoW3, I'm just amazed at how dumb this "article" (video) is.
Could you upload the set to flicker or something while your host recovers PLEEASSEE?
Not from what I've read. Looks like they released a new build of 3.41. Same number but it has a different md5 checksum.
