Being a parent, if you want high def movie, and you do have kids, spending 200+200 on a PS3 is a much better deal than a crappy 200 HD DVD player...(and it makes their kids much happier too)
And hey..since when american care about so much about money, from my understanding, americans tend to spend more than they earn right, they want better product, not the inferiors
