Sadly, it seems like it is... Looks like we'll just have to try and focus on other traditional gameplay elements that look distinctry Resident Evil and try as hard as we can to ignore the camera and controls being severely different... I know it's hard...
Well, that's ironic in itself... If Resident Evil 4 really DID try something new and revolutionalised the genre of survival horror and plain third-person shooters then RE7 is basically doing the same thing horror games have been doing since at least Amnesia:The Dark Descent. There is nothing "new", it's just making a numbered entry in a pioneer survival horror franchise look as trendy as humanly possible.
It does look good for what it's trying to be, but it'...
Ooooph... I would love it myself, but something tells me the higher-up management wouldn't tolerate this kind of generosity on the behalf of the developers and will probably demand them to charge us extra for such lovely feature as a campaign. In their eyes they are already giving us a ton of content like new characters every 3 months and different holiday modes like that Halloween one.

As somebody who replays and reclears Silent Hill 2 every summer I am not sure I would seriously recommend it for something like Halloween. It is a awesome survival horror game, but it's pretty depressing... And depression might not be something people would appreciate from their Halloween past-time.
