Depends on the situation. Some games may never have been made without exclusivity, though the developer may not be entirely happy at not being able to have their game on other platforms because they no longer own the IP.

I'm not familiar with games with mobile tie-ins but I can understand gamers reactions to situations like Javik DLC for ME3.
I pre-order some games for DLC, others I wait until a 'complete' edition is released. As you have said, support the devs/pubs that do dlc right.
