I played the first one years ago and can't remember what happens. The only things I remember from that was Templar and the Helghast guy that defects to the ISA or something.
KZ2 was 'PROTECT THE CONVOY' for half the game and had barely any plot. Hell, I didn't even know what the fuck was going on half the time because everything was so disjointed. Also, that ending...dear Christ that ending! FUCK YOU RICO!!
