@Foxtrot
you are giving her too much credit. ND was famous before she came into the picture and I expect them to continue. Remember they where the first to develop the no loading during certain sequences during video game play...to me if they were able to figure out the biggest piss off for a gamer, they had high hopes. Uncharted pushed ND into the legendary status, but to be honest they have been there since jak and dexter. Now the questions is, whats next.
@JMyers
I get your point and feel the same way that Scorpio may be a new console and not a mid-gen upgrade but the problem with your statement is that MS has been saying the complete opposite. Now looking at the TFlops for both Sony and MS new systems, Neo is not that far off from Scorpio when it comes to what they both can do individually. Because of that, I don't think Scorpio is a new system. IF scorpio was speculated at doing 10-12 TFlops, then we would be having a ...
Though I agree with your comment, my overall view of this is that they are just trying to keep up with the times. though everyone is trying to reach 4K we don't realize that 8K or what ever is going to be the next visual platform to get to is already nipping at the heals of these companies. When the next generation starts, 4K should be the norm for everything and I assume that will happen in the next 3-4 years. My concern is that soon the turnaround for the next best visual platform will ...
@dreadz74...I really don't get the point you are trying to make, because last I checked from all the rumors surrounding NEO it is as well built for 4K, difference is that Scorpio, from the proposed specs, would be better at handling 4K.
This is unrelated to this topic but sort of fits into this scope. I noticed around the web and even on this site, that since now MS has announced Scorpio everyone seems ok with this mid generation upgrade. For over a month and some time ...
pause...stop the car...i thought Sucker Punch was developing this...not Insomniac...looking good sony...looking good...now it makes me wonder what Sucker Punch has been working on...hmmmm....
I think that pricing scheme your proposing is too much...no one would buy it at that price range. Keep it at least at 400$ and you may grab the core gamer's that want it, like myself. Any higher and most will just wait.
Either way, it seems like there is finally confirmation since the article is quoting a very reliable source. This is going to be a very interesting summer to see what Sony and MS will offer regarding the enhancements for 4k.

No offense, because I am not trying to hate, but this sounds like a new console rather than an update. I understand MS has a plan for BC so that may be the reason why they are going this route. It just makes me wonder about the current XBO install base. What is the plan to mitigate them? Well though they are both rumors, Sony and MS, it will be interesting to see how each system plays out.
OMG...well said...
Yeah I had to look at at the user scores as well to see what they were saying and though I didn't go to the 0's this one caught my eye.
"Watched on twitch, 15 hours:
Good graphics/animation/face-cap/ha ir and ok story, but no gameplay worth doing.
Probably looks even better on a real console, despite the 30fps.
Seriously silly with the sony product ads for their phone, the playstation1 and the **** crash bandicoot game they've stu...
Well written Article!!!
How can you say that if you never played the second game?
OT: I was just talking about this to someone, saying I was hoping they would release a remastered edition for the PS4.
@Eidolon, for some reason you think that this move will split the PS4 user base and I am not certain why you have this assumption. All leaked documentation stated that the devs cannot split the user base. What ever game can be played on the PS4 will also be played on the NEO, same game. Let me reverse that, What ever game can be played on the NEO will be able to play on the PS4. The game will be the same except that one system, the NEO, will output the graphics at a higher scale. I expect the...
@rainslacker its not that no one is listening to you; most of us understand that it will be a hiccup, but most of us do not look at it as a major problem. In all honesty these devs should be seasoned enough to know what to do. Plus I am sure Sony and MS have already thought about this and provided the proper codecs or upgrades to the dev kits to allow this change / feature.
OT: My biggest problem with these articles is that some are bringing their own perspective into the a...
@fox79 that comment makes no sense. that is irrelevant at best. Just because they are coming out with an upgraded version of their console that will do everything their current console can do isn't shafting anybody. Its an option. For me I would be happy to buy the Neo and give the Standard PS4 to my kids; especially since I would be able to play my games on either.
@uth11 if you looked at the leaked documentation for the Neo, Sony restricted the developers making the N...
@ Aenea, no offense but your comment makes you an optimistic. There were no positives in your comment to think otherwise. A Realist would say, I looked at the leaked documentation or at least a summary of the information and I am taking the facts presented and base my assumptions on the facts. In this case, PS4 Neo, the facts state that it will not affect the current PS4 install base. No special optimization will be done to either version, other than one would be able to enhance the visual ou...
Just wondering, what are your upsides and downsides. I don't see how this is a big issue if it doesn't affect the current generation or should I say the current PS4 install base.
i guess you didn't read the article, because the author makes a great point. Sony isn't stabbing anyone in the back; again, you didn't read the leaked information for the console because The 'NEO' system will not affect anyone. It won't affect the user base or devs. Its just a system to give you 4K, no special games will be made for the platform. I look at it like this, its just the mid generation update that MS, Sony and Nintendo does. Usually we don't know what ...
I look at it like this, every console life cycle we receive a refresh, something that has been going on since Sony has gotten into the game. Most of the time they don't tell us the features of the new model until it releases and due to the internet we are able to know what is going on behind closed doors, if true. MS did it last generation with the 360 and Sony did it with the PS3; so I truly see no difference with this refresh now. The true only difference is that the system will support...
I look at it like this... show me proof and then I will believe, and this statement points mainly or directly at MS. They make very bold claims only to shoot themselves in the foot later. When the XBOS was announced specifically it stated that only media and not games will output 4K, now all of the sudden the S can do it to games as well, umh...ok. I need to see the proof first. To clear the air, this is regarding the S not Scorpio.
For Sony I am actually glad they choose ...
