Just because online gaming is now possible doesnt mean it's anymore "the future" than single player. I still have the most fun playing single player games, going through missions and a story.
Plus yeah, online gaming is filled with douchebags.
How's about this. Everyone in Australia stop buying game from aussie sellers. Import directly from the US. Postage can cost $30, but you'll still be getting it cheaper and $110/$120 that they charge in stores and online aussie stores.

Damn straight. In the US you guys have unlimited downloads, in other countries we don't. I have 40GB/month to use, once i hit that limit I'm capped to 5kb/s.
And my 40GB plan is considered outrageos (and expensive at $70 a month) because most people have about 1GB/month, which isnt even enough for 1 regular DVD.
Now that Rock Bands out i dont see how any other rhythm game can possibly top it. Minor tweaks can be made to make it a better overall experience, but nothing can out do the core gameplay of it.

I'd say it is. There's a video of Johnathan Coulton playing rock band with some dev's at GDC on youtube somewhere. I don't think it's named as having him in it so it'll be hard to find... but it's there.
UNKLE, Queen and VHS or Beta all seem pretty cool. They're not confirmed, but rumored by various sites.
Exactly right. I imported the game through GameStop on release last year and got the entire bundle for like $230. Chances are it'll cost a good $250 when its actually released in AU anyway. So not only do I have it early but it's probably that it will end up cheaper.
No warranty though, thats the only downside I can think of, luckily all my gears still working fine (after a small mod to the guitar to fix the strum bar)
And downloading DLC off the US store IS possible...

The hype for GH3 was defintely over done, it's a poorly made game that fails in most aspects.
Rock Band didnt have a lot of hype with in the gaming community, however, most gaming sites and magazines all said how awesome it was gonna be. It turned out to be an awesome, innovative game with some really cool features and DLC that has blown away all other DLC ever. It's a pity EA screwed the the peripheral production, rushing things, but they tried hard to fix it.
