I hate it when the article turns out to be a post on what amounts to some guy's blog. HTF does crap like this get approved? Utter B.S.

I wish they would put in updates for DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball, the original Mech Assault, Rallisport Challenge 2, MS Links, and Top Spin. I've been waiting for those for a long time.

I have always said from the outset that the reason why Microsoft has stated that there would be NO "internal" drive was that they couldn't be sure of which format would win. Microsoft developed HDi and the VC1 codec, and HD-DVD was in direct competition with Blu-ray and SONY, so OF COURSE THEY WOULD PUSH HD-DVD. However, they knew what they were up against. By having an external drive, if the format lost, which it now pretty much has unequivocally, all they have to do is STOP MAKING...

"Sony's Blu-ray seen winning DVD format war." No...DUH!!! Gee, the guy at the Straitstimes must have been up all night working on this one. What's tomorrow's report? "Study: Water is wet"?

What I want to know is why someone would even bother posting this? Given all the other reports out there, this doesn't cover a single thing that we don't already know. TFWOT (Total F***ing Waste Of Time)

Sorry, but I fear that this site has been infiltrated ...

Well, if it is true, then both the format war and the rampant fanboyism can finally frigging STOP!!! Hallelujah! At least the prices for players have come down.

This is a bit of an aside, but looking at that ad for the new Geometry Wars got me to thinking: Bizarre should release that sucker on Xbox Live Arcade--it would be yet another hit!

Personally, I like the look of it. And what they're doing to the game to make it more accessible sounds good. I just hope that Garruda is in it. He's my favourite.

I remember when I brought home my HDTV and hooked up the analog cable--Ooooh, SNAP! That looks horrible! I had always seen standard def TV in the store and figured it looked bad just because of bad set-up, or because of the signal being split between all the TV's in the store, but the fact is that on an LCD TV, standard def just looks awful. Hook-up your console, play an HD movie or DVD over HDMI, or just hook up a high-def cable or satellite box and things get much better, but man oh man, st...

I have two friends who have Wii's, and they don't play them. One guy got it, played Wii Sports the first day, and now the system just collects dust (he's usually on 360, though). The other friend has all three major consoles (PS3, 360, and Wii), but he got the Wii with the idea of it being the console that the wife could play, and as something for party games when company comes over. (Note to girl gamers: Sorry about that "wife" comment. I wasn't trying to suggest that you wouldn't ...

Actually, I hope that Forza 2 doesn't get too many racing game awards for the year. In my honest opinion, and this is from someone who played and liked Forza 1 and 2 (Forza 2 not so much), I fear it would give Turn 10 and MS too much of a swelled head regarding their IP, which in my opinion needs a MAJOR overhaul. Forza 2 was like one step forward, one-and-a-half steps back. Customization was awesome as usual, but the racing, the AI, and the track selection were nowhere near as good as hoped ...

While I won’t knock the Wii for being innovative, which it is, the fact of the matter is that it is little more than a Gamecube with a new controller. As a matter of fact, the Wiimote was originally meant to be an accessory for the Gamecube. Now, I have never been a Nintendo guy. My experience with video games predates the NES and the Sega’s, etc. When I decided to come back, it was at the passing of the torch from the PlayStation to the PS2, so Nintendo’s games held little attraction for me,...

The shmucks at the big-box stores don't help, either. In many cases they don't know their a-- from a hole in the ground, or worse yet, they have been instructed to push one format (or even a brand) over another. My advice to anyone out there looking to get into HD is this: Do your research, and then go in and buy what you want. Don't leave yourself at the mercy of a big-box store shmuck!

I mean, seriously, look at the front page: All three leading news stories are about the format war. Geez! Slow news day, or what?

And this is something I have been wondering for a while now...if Warner were to join HD-DVD, and who knows, they just might...then THAT will make things very, very interesting, won't it?

I currently support BOTH formats, but I have to say this:

This site seems to be more and more a Blu-ray fanboy site than it is a gaming news site. I'm not saying that Blu-ray is bad, but honestly, I've never seen what appears to be such fanboyism in one supposedly independent site as much as I have here.

HA-Ha!!! Just ditched my 1999 IBM with an AMD K-6 II (380 MHz). I guess I am Joe "Two-four". My new PC is much, much nicer, though. I have people at the video store asking me what the differences are between the formats.

It's like this:

I tell them that both are 1080p, and that both look and sound the same. Apparently Blu-ray can run with no compressed soundtrack, but it's not like average human ears can tell the difference. What it then comes down to...

No sweat, man. I was just joining the discussion. I agree with the fact that, if that's all that Blu-ray is leading by with that many machines installed (although you should note that only about 66%-70% of PS3's are being used to play Blu-ray discs at all), then they must be in some trouble.

Personally, I think that if Warner goes with HD-DVD, then the studios are split right down the middle, and this format war gets really interesting. As weird as this may sound, the fact that...

Edit: Anyone who agrees with that post is a total Sony "fanboy"? The 360 is going to be left in the dust? Then Sony's plan for a 10-year console (sheeyeah, right) better be right, because they're going to need that long to catch--much less surpass--that console. Unless they decide to drop their price even more. Note to Sony: You may want do that again now. And just to clarify: I am a PS3 owner, and a PS2 guy with nearly 70 games in my collection.

I have both formats a...

I'll give the demo a shot on medium, but again, what I was saying about a console: It runs at its maximum nearly each and every time, because the game is meant to use that console's resources to the maximum. Most of us want to see what the game looks like at maximum settings; we don't want to play it at half its capacity.

See, that's another thing: I like the XPS models, Alienware, and Voodoo PC's, but who the heck can afford to buy a $5-grand rig for gaming that needs to be chucked out and replaced within a year for the next hottest game? Forget it.
