I would like to see a remake of the first game but I would love to see a different take on Metal Gear Solid 2, what the game would be like without Raiden.
If they create a new timeline then you could create more Solid Snake games without ruining the ending of MGS4. Maybe in this timeline they would known about the aging problem and would cure it before it happens.
I didn't to be honest, I think it was because he was only in one game and the fact the new actor sounded like him.
I just don't see the trouble though of getting a new voice actor only to not make the next game inFAMOUS 3 starring Cole. Unless they are keeping that for later.
So instead of doing a some nice big single player DLC packs for Far Cry 3 they are doing this.

Garrett's intentions are different now, he now steals because it's a "way of life" when in the old games it was a economic necessity for example paying is landlord.

It was rushed out in my opinion, if it had launched with Mario Kart U and another game like Super Smash Bros U or maybe the new Zelda then have Pikman 3 and maybe Luigis Mansion 2 (instead of the 3DS version) coming out a few months after then it would of lured people in. Elizabeth in Bioshock was done separately, someone did the motion capturing and then the voice was pasted over it.....and guess what it worked. She was a fantastic character and you would of never of noticed that they were done separately.
