Personal taste should ultimate be the deciding factor. I have both so it is hard for me to favor one over the other but I do like a bit more of what the Xbox One offer over the PS4 (personal preference of course).
....I do have some suggestions that might be of help for those that are on the fence.
-Do you like jRPG?
-Do you like having the ability to use External HDD?
-Do you like to have a larger indies selection to choose from?
If Knight of the Old republic and 10 other Star Wars games never existed, then yes, Battlefront could be the best Star Wars game to date.
MS X360 games and Nintendo Virtual Console games are also emulation too and not full hardware BC and gamers can also used XB1/Wii U hardware features with migrating old titles over from previous generations.
The fact that Sony isn't allowing their method of emulation like what the competition is doing when it is virtually the same way of getting old titles on a new platform and allowing gamers that have had already bought and owned those older games to work like many PS g...

Does it matter if it is $20 or $40, the fact is MS is giving away a popular and great game to XB1 gamers with Gold and all you are concerning about is how much the game is worth?
And BTW, season 2 doesn't have more fighters as both games have 8 fighters each with both Shadow Jago and Omen being special characters for their respective season. Just to let you know as it seems you have never even play any of those 2 seasons before.

That version you listed at the MS store is the combo breaker pack which is always $20. The one MS is giving to gold members is the Ultra edition, which is $40 and also include all the accessories, items, DLC and the original arcade KI game.
Nice try to try to downplay another great additon that Phil and team are giving us. :/

Wow, Not only is KI season 1 Ultra, a $40 game is free, but BC games Deus EX and Dirt:Showdown will also be free for XB1 gamers with gold. The best subscription gaming service just got better. Where else can you get a high quality AAA title and 2 additional BC titles for $5 or less per month?

Lol, except you forgot Dead Rising, Ryse are not MS owmed IP unlike games like Quantum Break, Crackdown, or Scalebound. MS is just the publisher just like Sony is the publisher of Kojima's new game but it us already confirmed a PC version will follow.

Every thing ever made Can potentially have issue as certain batch or single item might be prone to malfunction and that is normal. So a few people complaint that their stick shift auto = to EVERY Elite cotroller having the same issue?
How about the compaints about iPhone 4 antenna issue or iPhone 6 prone to bending? Does a few loud voice = to the entire iPhones sold?

Both will be crossplay and in the case of KI, it is Cross buy. That and the interchangeable Elite Contoller on both PC and XB1 makes it that much better. Bring it on MS

That is like saying I have to rebuy Star wars on my Blu Ray player even though I owned the VHS version. But My DVD version of Star Wars does works with My XB1, PS4 because they both have Blu Ray drive.
SNES, NES, N64 are cartridge based and how can you compare that with the DVD based format of PS2 titles? DVD works on PS4 and we already know that emulator can support disc based and digital titles...ie PS2 disc and PS3's PS2 classic digita...
the list is missing a couple of titles.
Godzilla (meta 38) wasn't on there on PS4 while ....
Rise of the Tomb Raider (meta 86) and State of Decay HD (meta 72) was omitted on XB1.
