Good to see Splinter Cell received a 9/10... I'm really, really looking forward to it!
Who out there substitutes a 360 for a PS3? Or a PS3 for a 360? These aren't exactly impulse buys. One would assume the typical consumer goes into a store with a conrete idea of what he or she wants. Does anyone go into a store with the thought "I'm going to buy a next-generation console. I'll buy whatever one they have in stock." These consoles cost 500-600 dollars... don't most people do a little bit of homework before buying?
Sounds like the 360/PS3 version will be a bit different.
Let's just say... people will watch the video while holding their joystick.
I read an article where a mag asked a dev (forget which one) why framerate issues persist The dev said that there are only so much time and resources to go around (art, engine, marketing, programming). He said that working on the framework means not working on something else. When you think about it, it makes sense from their perspective. Take Saints Row. Spending $1 million to get voice talent will probably sell the game more than spending $1 million on better programming... which are only e...
I know it's been brought up before, but why can't framerate issues be ironed out? I know it's not a 360-specific problem. Many of the early PS3 games also have framerate issues. Saints Row, in addition to framerate problems, has significant tearing. I haven't heard a concrete reason why this is happening.
They sure are good at...
TIMESHIFTING...hahahahahahaha haaha

Sorry!
That is an interesting thought, indeed. I think that would have worked very well last generation. However, we have a much more even playing field this generation. Developing a 20 GB game would literally translate into eliminating half your potential customer base.
Maybe in a couple years when the power of the PS3 can be exploited will the BR be used as a strategic tool.
I would simply like to know the specs of the console I'm about to purchase. Sony, in its infinite wisdom, has chosen to leave the CPU SPEED off the spec sheet.
I'm not dissing your news... I'm saying I'm not surprised that we're getting rendered footage of a PS3 game.
Still no official word on whether the CPU downgrade rumours are true. The Cell's specs are not revealed.
I am soooo shocked!!
Q: Are you using B-Ray for Haze?
A: Nope.
This is the problem with Sony's incorporation of B-Ray for the PS3. If you want to develop a game that is available on both the 360 & PS3, you CANNOT use the B-ray drive for the PS3. If you want to use the B-ray's superior capacity for your game, you can only sell to 50% of next-gen gamers. With game costs increasing rapidly for 9 GB games, they're only going to be more for a 20GB+ game. So, you end up producing a cost intens...
with that is the spec sheet is an image.
When I wrote 550/500 I was referring to the CPU downgrade rumours. The Inquirer "reported" that the CPU was being downgraded to 500 mhz... this spec sheet should reveal the true power of the CPU. But you're telling me they don't reveal the mhz of their processor on a SPEC SHEET??
I looked at the hardware specs. I don't see 550/500 mentioned anywhere...anyone see anything?
This game has looked real bad since day one and I'm not surprised they're going to have to spend a bit more time polishing it up.
Yes, I'm making stuff up... by linking to an article. I didn't even mention "in-store kiosks." Clearly, you're the one making stuff up. I said demo stations.
