"I don't really get the point of this article."
In a nutshell:
Xbox fans tried to spout 'teh PS3 haz no gamez and we haz teh Halo' so let's show how 'unbiased' we are by accepting that BS.
In other words, don't waste your time or give the worthless article hits.
PS3 sales speak for themselves. Gamers were buying PS3s at a much faster rate worldwide than the 360 at 100 to 200 dollars more in price long before Metal Gear Solid 4 arri...
"There was once a time that even us Sony fanboys had to admit that the only real big title we had was Metal Gear Solid 4 against Xbox 360's roster of games."
Don't ever pass yourself off as speaking for PS3 owners again.
Give a rest. You're just embarrassing yourself.
LOL! An actual John Carmack fanboy? That is so sad...
Unless I missed someone, they really have no one who actually knows anything about the PS3.
The breakdown seems to be about:
75 percent PC gamers
24 percent PC programmers
and they have one bitter and angry Xbox fan, Lao Yosh, who builds models for Blizzard or some company who works for Blizzard. Loves to use as many big graphics terms as possible in his constant spewing of anti-Sony/PS3 garbage.
and one junior programmer who is experi...
Beyond3d really is to console graphics hardware and engines as vgchartz is to sales numbers. Both are effectively nothing more than sites peddling fake information to a crowd of people who desperately want to have someone tell them the lies they want to believe.
What is bizarre about Microsoft's copy of the Insomniac skill point system in the Spyro and Ratchet and Clank games is they copied the mechanism(extra game activities) but failed to comprehend the purpose(unlocking things or being rewarded for your effort).
In the Insomniac games the skill points you earned got you skins or cheats or other things that gave the game extra replay value.
Microsoft for some reason didn't grasp that fundamental concept when they renamed s...
I really hope for IGN's sake this is a joke.
I remember all the people who laughed at the idiot who wrote the IGN Killzone 2 review saying they couldn't wait to see if IGN would embarrass themselves with the CoDMW2 review.
If this joke score turns out to be true it looks like we have another GTA4 review fiasco where fanboy reviewers and giant wads of marketing cash created absurdly high undeserved review scores.
A PS3 exclusive can't be Game of the Year.
Halo 3 and Forza 3 obviously would be laughed at. CoDMW2 is pretty much all the gaming media has left to avoid being forced to give a PS3 exclusive GotY.
"With the PlayStation 3, some of my engineer friends have looked at it and said that it is very difficult to program for. Engineers like to do things that are hard"
Translation:
I asked a couple of Windows programmers I know. They have no experience with anything but desktop x86 PCs and have never designed console hardware nor written console game/graphics code. Instead of being honest they lashed out at what they didn't understand by trying to pretend it w...
.
"Both systems' GPUs have their ups and downs."
Please.
Console graphics hardware isn't the Special Olympics where everyone is a winner.
There isn't a single area the PS3 doesn't absolutely outperform the 360:
Resolution
Geometry/poly counts
Materials
Lighting models
Animation
and on and on and on
there isn't a SINGLE AREA, let alone an entire game, the 360 can show for the four years its b...
Don't waste your time on him.
There really is some borderline mental illness with a certain segment of console owners absolutely refusing to face up to the fact that they weren't just wrong, they were laughably wrong about the relative power of the PS3 and 360.
One might try to be generous and give them that most of are clueless and can't see any piece of graphics hardware as anything but the horrible and wildly inefficient desktop computer. A modern piece of graphic...
Last gen Microsoft basically threw a bunch of desktop PC parts into a big ugly black box and tried to pass it off as a console. It was basically a dumb brute force attempt at competing with Sony. The expensive PC parts in the first Xbox were so expensive that Microsoft lost some 4 billion dollars before they pulled the plug on the fiasco and were forced to rush the Xbox 360 out the door a year early.
All those billions spent on the dumb brute force Xbox hardware and it only could...
Cnet really seems to be in a panic over the massive sales of the 299 Slim and the flood of AAA exclusives coming out of Sony.
It's like you can just see them sitting there fretting over the latest PS3 sales figures and PS3 exclusive review scores and wanting to lash out in another poorly disguised anti-PS3 article.
Wow, this is some serious ownage by Sony.
Home is absolutely incredible - but only if you aren't some anti-social retard.
The fear it generates is understandable. Microsoft has been forcing Xbox owners to pay 50 dollars a year just to be allowed to play games online and all they managed to do with that hundred of millions of dollars in online fees was a creepy copy of Nintendo's Mii avatars.
While Sony has been providing free online with dedicated server...
What is very strange about articles like this is from people who are rooting for a company that has made it clear to them that they no longer care about their demographic and instead are moving on to targetting the Wii crowd with their copy of Sony's EyeToy style motion controls.
Just look at what Microsoft has done over the past couple of years. They have been closing down their first party developer studios to where they only have three left. They let Bungie go third party. Th...
