How hard is it to just have 10 people from each major Sony studio to work on exclusive Vita games? I'm really getting fed up with old ports, badly handled ports especially. Also they are not saving money by not marketing, they are losing money and potential customers because only the hardcore gamer even knows this handheld exists.
I really wish they would've revamped the controls to better suit the Vita. Killzone Mercenary set the perfect template for how a shooter should play on a handheld. If they would have set touch icons on the right side for switching weapons and the grenades (but let you hold it until you are ready to throw like in KZ) and well as letting button have dual functions (setting ∆ for melee and well as interacting with the environment/exiting entering vehicles, setting O for crounching while stat...
I'm not expecting anything at this years E3, we'll be lucky to see Rachet and Clank: Into the Nexus, that is if it hasn't already been scrapped. Sony's western studios have all went to PS4 and third party western studios have all but left. The future of the device will be localizations of Japanese games and indies. At least in Japan the handheld is doing well, so titles should keep coming.
If the original vision had taken place without the backlash, the title very well could have been "How complacency and blind brand loyalty set gaming into the Draconian age." Its a good thing that there were two competitors not complying with those former ass backwards policies because I have no doubt that Microsoft would have enforced them if not for competition.
Google can go fuck itself.
I'm actually looking forward to this years game. I didn't buy Ghosts because of mediocre reviews and it looking like a joke on next gen, but this year the game looks like its actually meant to be on the new systems. Hopefully that 3 year development cycle paid off and the game feels fresh. Plus its one the the only games still showing some local split screen love.
You can always buy another couch. What am I gonna do about mah legs Charlie Murphy?!
Bullshit review, the games isn't nearly as bad as its portrayed to be. Default controls are actually pretty good and they're almost completely customizable. After reading the review I feared the worst, but its surprisingly good. As it is, I'd give it a 7.5, an 8 if they patched the frame rate an added ad hoc co-op.
With horror making a comeback, I'd love to see a new Siren game.
Oh Phil.
I hate how this game isn't native res. Even with the game being on a small screen, it is still noticeably blurry, especially the text; I expected a lot more out of Sanzaru Games. Also, really hating the use of the back touchscreen, my hands naturally rest at the back and it annoying bring up unneccessary actions, they don't even have an option to change your control scheme. The only way to alleviate the awkward back control is to use an unnatural crab claw grip.
I notice a lot of articles lately tell us to just get over anti consumer practices in games. If you keep letting it go on, it'll just get progressively worse. For example an unlockable item in game can be either bought through microtransactions or earned in game, sooner or later devs will keep increasing the effort to get said item until people just say "screw it I'll just buy the damn thing", this should be unacceptable in a retail game, but I'm sure we'll get there...
So glad that Shahid and Lorenzo came through with their #jrpgvita project, hope we see many more localizations in the future.
Killzone's singleplayer was a huge letdown for me, I would honestly recommend playing Battlefield 4 for the single and multiplayer.
I used to think dlc was bad, but now with microtransactions shaping up to be the scurge of this generation, dlc doesn't look so bad anymore in comparison. Though as of late, dlc milking is at an all time high.
Botzone is a nice addition, but it kills me that we still don't have an ad hoc mode. Seriously, how hard is it to include local multiplayer for vita games? Far too many titles lack this once commonplace feature. I would even pay just to have the mode.
Games not running at native res on vita should be unacceptable at this point. I can understand at launch when devs weren't familiar with the hardware, but now it just seems sloppy.
Screw NFS, a new Burnout is desperately needed, too bad it isn't very likely.
The one indie I really want on Vita is Jamestown+, it looks like such an awesome schmup. I'm glad its coming to PS4, but hopefully it makes it to the handheld. Its disappointing how there aren't any AAA games coming our way, but with how the Vita is doing really well in Japan, there should be a steady stream of localizations coming our way for a while.
Looks like it will just be indies and Japanese games from here on for me. Old ass ports, especially poor ports, I have no interest in. Child of Light looks to be the only western third party game coming up, other than that it looks pretty bleak.
