No the basic net code in this game is bad but that's no where near the only issue, using friend codes to add people, the games matchmaking not matching up with your preferences (preferences set to 1v1 no items and yet out of 20 matches 12 were 4player ffa and 8 had items on).
You can create arenas to play with friends but can't invite them into the arena despite being able to see them online unless you message them from out side the system ie: texting. The game also...

I'm with cornholio on this one, charging in 60$ for a game with a lack of content and filling it with microtransactions and it just being a glitchy buggy mess in general is pretty anticonsumer to me and anyone claiming it isn't has low standards and don't even get me into how poorly implemented many of the mechanics are in this game like the pvp, spawning, enemy variety and horribly basic quest design. The game is just...lazy
As far as I'm concerned they both suck ass at launch so both deserve to bomb, I hate this release now and patch later bullshit
Emphasis on that engine, that thing is ancient and there is no excuse to still be using it, hell that tired old cod engine has shed better than that thing
