Kadokawa is definitely a much much smaller buy even compared to Bethesda. I believe the only prominent studio they own is FromSoftware, the rest are mostly manga and anime, which is what I think Sony is after. FromSoftware might just be a bonus. Sony is trying to lock down anime

He was in control of TLOU. Without him the game would not exist. Why do you think Sony gave him a major promotion after the success of an IP he made? Not only was he the writer, he was one of the creative directors in charge of narrative, Bruce the other creative director was in charge of gameplay. The fact that Sony and HBO worked with Neil rather than Bruce should tell you who was in charge of the narrative/story.

No body ever asked for any new IP. Do you think there were people asking for Halo, Gears, Zelda, TLOU, GOW, GTA and Red Dead before those IPs were created? Horizon has done far far better than any IP from the studio and I highly doubt anyone expected it to sell as much, because of the cheap upgrade path, which I suspect is what many would do

Again, not how it works, the exact amount Marvel gets has not been publicly disclosed. Also, why would they pay anything? The IP holders doesn't pay anything. The person who wants to use the IP has to pay to use and make the service or product. Who do you think is paying to make TLOU TV show, Sony? No. HBO is footing the bill, just as Amazon is footing the bill for Ring of Power
