The fact is doing a remake to modern 3d standards with more detail and voice acting compared to 3d models on pre-rendered 2d backgrounds made it not possible to do in one game.

Amen brother. Not every damn game needs a remake. Even this one. Without the initial mystery of the Ishimura and what happened to it, it's gonna be kinda lame to play this.
Yep a sequel would suck. I don't mind a GTA clone set in Asia being done again but not with the same premise i.e. playing an undercover cop. A new game would likely make the title make no sense as well.
