Yeah, Vita was always meant to be a social handheld, it had near! Where you got random things for games you owned just by playing the same game as some people nearby. Guess thats the reason all the things you mentioned were great

Be that as it may! I still see ps3s consoles displayed, being bought and rarely on sale. Ps3 games still on the front shelves, sometimes even next to the ps4 version, the greatest Hits bundles. 360 consoles and New games are nowhere to be seen for waaay more than a year now.
So, it'd be stupid to think ps3 hasnt outsold 360 by now. And dont get me started on the ACTUALLY working consoles at this time.

PS3 games still run at native 720p. And its been around for more than 10 years. PS2 games lacked behind Xbox or GCN graphically, yet its the best console ever made. And dont get me started o PSOne.
PS4 / pro or Xbone / scorpio being behind pc performance doesn't really matter, consoles have always been lacking in that department. That wont stop people buying any console. Pro and scorpio will eventually replace original consoles, thats obvious.

You said it yourself, its still a peripheral, an add on to a console. I, in my whole life, havent seen any mayor studio develop a game with peripherals in mind. And I dont see that changing in the near future. Maybe if PSVR turns out to be a success We'll see some of the big studios making VR games (not only on PS)
Exclusive (and good) games were on playstation since PS2, nothing has really changed about that. Tecnology has always been on MS side (powerful xbox, easy to program for xbox 360 etc). But games will never compete with those from Sony. History is showing us that. And the way I see it, its Not gonna change for the years to come. Scorpio or not.

Each company makes that effort on its own way. MS trying to get Xbone and Windows 10 as popular as they can. And Nintendo... Well... THey just launched amiibo... And thats it.
