I don't know you're preference in genre or platform you play on but I'd recommend you check out Rim World, not the best looking game out there but an extremely well made one with great AI and base resource management elements, like prison architect just at a much bigger scale, definitely overlooked as an indie of the year contender
Yep, also not even mentioning the japanese indie scene, there are some great games out there that people will never no existed.

"Limited preorders" not "limited consoles units" on release day, they're gauging and generating interest at the same time, its how marketing works.
The indie scene is growing in leaps and bounds when it comes to production quality in conjunction with some of the most creative developers out there , there could've easily been 10 equally worthy contenders for the best indie game of 2016
Very excited to see what nintendo has to offer, fingers and toes crossed for a successful reveal and a strong launch lineup

More recently Tyranny as well, anyone interested in Isometric RPG's should give it a go its made by Obsidian and they add some great new elements to the way storytelling works in these games

KIller 7 is still my favorite of the Suda 51 games, wish they'd consider a sequel or a re imagining of it instead of a 3rd NMH's, I'm being selfish I know
