This guy seems to forget that Modern Warfare was developed specifically for the 360 architecture and was ported to Wii- similarly with World at War. Also, Resident Evil 5 is apparently now possible on the Wii when during development the Wii "couldn't even run the start menu"...
Also, I hear more and more about Capcom's adaptation of their MT framework to the Wii possibly allowing for the aforementioned RE, as well as Street Fighter IV and Lost Planet for the Wii- not to menti...
I think the concept of an on-rails shooter has begun to change in the minds of developers, and needs to in the minds of gamers. Dead Space: Extraction is a great example: the entire game feels like a cut-scene that you are actually playing. The sections in which you can choose which path to take I think can be expanded into a type of hybrid between traditional rails shooters(Time Crises, House of the Dead; "shooting gallery" style; "scene-by-scene") and the free-roaming of...
Ayn Rand is what is wrong with the world.
John Galt is an asshole.
Your comment demonstrates the extent to which we can take your opinion seriously.
This is definitely a different online game than other shooters- you have to play more like you do in single-player: "Watch your corners," using cover, covering teammates and being covered, suppressing fire, leaning etc. Whereas games like The Conduit are much more twitchy and arcade-y, a la Quake.
It does say reflex, its just really small on the bottom of the front. Once you're in the game though, its HUGE! Its also on the side.

Agreed. In other posts I mention the unfortunate state of game developers and/or publishers who are unwilling or unable to develop their own game engines. This is especially damaging for the Wii- but I believe it is due more to a lack of developer ingenuity and publisher willingness than a crippling deficiency in hardware power on the Wii's part.
Why can't developers get better than PS2-level graphics out of the system? Where is the variation in software? Re...
I think people need to stop being foolish about "what the Wii is capable of." Its exactly as you can expect: a lack of lighting effects and shaders, and lower-resolution textures. The biggest difference is the ocean and lightning. And, this doesn't even seem to be a very solid port effort when you compare the graphics to the likes of Metroid and some of the effects in Conduit- I'm sure that developers can get a lot more out of the Wii but it is at least exciting to hear all of the &...
Also: There have been a couple of other third-person games for the Wii: Godfather, Bully, and Scarface were all ported, and- I believe- are all the best-controlling versions of their respective iterations.
Seriously though, where the hell are all the third-person shooters. The remote-nunchuk combination is hugely superior to analog sticks- maybe more so than in first-person shooters- and the aiming/controls are easier if not nearly identical to developing for an FPS- they work th...
To YLOD: Actually more money can produce better graphics on Wii- and does. The problem is the overall lack of money and interest invested thus far.
Activision just proved that Modern Warfare can be made for the Wii and it's the original "can't-do-it-on-Wii" game. Unfortunately, it seems publishers will continue to feed the Wii crowd with one and two year-old ports (or worse) instead of new, original content if and when they decide that "HD" or "next-gen&q...
This is a really unfortunate review...
CoD: Reflex is by far the best FPS and online experience I've had on Wii. I played CoD4 on the 360 in the week leading up to this release and I think Treyarch couldn't have done much of a finer job bringing it to the Wii.
The controls and customization are nearly perfect- I would like more freedom in mapping buttons; also a customizable HUD akin to The Conduit-; the graphics are a terrific representation of the original; and the...
I hope everyone goes out and buys it and that Activision may eventually realize how stupid they are for not only giving this game two years late but for the COMPLETE lack of marketing or advertising surrounding its release!
All the videos I have seen on youtube do not do the extent to which the game has been faithfully rendered justice. Even those of you who think it looks good are in for a surprise when you actually plop down in front of it.
"Hardcore" and "Casual" is a stupid distinction. Movies and books are not divided up in this sense- they are simply meant for different audiences and we as consumers understand that and support the things we enjoy and that cater to us- we don't ridicule the younger viewer or reader who picks something to watch or read based on their preferences, comprehension, or cognitive abilities around which they make their decisions. So we should stop.
Dead Space Extraction is really quite amazing. I love it and had some great jumpy moments. What would really make DS:E worthwhile is if EA is setting up a port of the original Dead Space to the Wii...I haven't played the original and don't own a PS3 or 360 so I feel like I won't be able to get the full experience- although I suppose a 360/PS3 owner without a Wii or the desire to play a game on the Wii is at a similar (albeit less-so) disadvantage.
"...if you're a hardcore gamer looking for another reason to actually justify your Wii..."
I just can't take people who speak from such perspectives seriously. Game "journalism" is really a gas. And leaves me aghast.
...Here's to hoping for a long and consistent stream of media and previews until the game's (eventual) release.
This time last year I could count the Wii games I was looking forward to on one hand and three of those have been released. My list now is too large to keep track of- but....I want 2010...Grinder, Metroid, Sin and Punishment? When is that coming- I can't remember if that was on the list or not.
`
...Me too...
I haven't heard much about MadWorld's numbers lately but I would be interested in how it is faring as time goes on.
I hope lots of people are picking up their pre-orders of the Conduit on Tuesday like me...unless you're not in North America that is.
This is a strange little game. There is sooo much opportunity for so many different additional gameplay elements that it is kind of sad to see what the game offers. The art design is some of the coolest ever, the music and multiplayer are great but there seems to be something missing like story, unlockables, progression, and as the author mentioned- editing modes. But, it was worth it to play a Contra style shooter as a toaster with the girlfriend for a little bit.
Speaking of wh...
I'm sure these aren't representative of the game in mottion but I think the Wii shots look better.
