As a 45 year-old and father of three, I can definitely relate to that article. I can especially relate to FOMO. That said, I don't spend anywhere near that much on games yearly. As for culling - no way - I have only lived to regret it and end up repurchasing things I've sold. Within the last couple of days, I just declared that I will not sell any more of my gaming collection. It's the only hobby I spend money on. No jet ski, snowmobile, hot rod, etc. over here. Compared to my bud...
...and don't forget the ability to put your own face on your character, if you had the Eye camera. :) I am very tempted to grab this at $20. Is there still a strong player community or is this waning?
I have to go with the Intellivision, but mainly for nostalgic reasons. It was my first console and is what got me into gaming. Sadly, when I got to be a teenager, I ended up giving it away to girl's little brother. I guess girls were worth more than video games at that point in my life. The Sega Genesis is close second. My buddies and I had SO many great times playing NHL in our 20's. Now, in my mid-40's, I just have them all! PS4, XB1, WiiU, and on and on. So many games, so littl...
I tried the first Outer Rim expansion when it was free for a weekend. I didn't see enough content to warrant $15. This sounds like it has a little more, with the addition of a ship.
There are some fun party games/tech demo stuff that you can play with the camera without buying anything, so you'll get at least *some* use out of it.
Yes, dpad marking shows up for teammates, so you know when they're going to attack and avoid the "Leeeeerrroooy Jeeennkiinnss"
I just reinstalled it today after replacing my HDD in my PS4 and didn't realize there was a whole additional "community" DLC that I didn't have before. There is a TON of DLC available. I bought it as Premium on launch and have zero regrets. I think there are 5 major DLCs (without looking it up).
Pretty much set with my game purchases for the season with the BF deals combined with my GCU membership...Must. Stop. Backlogging! Picked up Until Dawn, GTA 5, Witcher 3, FC4, MineCraft SM Season, and have Xenoblade coming. Haven't even started my Fallout 4 yet. #thestruggleisreal
Speaking of drive size, I happened to look at some of the app sizes on both my Wii U and my PS4 a couple of days ago. Netflix is 50MB on the Wii U. 1.5GB on the PS4. I may be off on the exact size, bu there was a huge difference. And it has MORE functionality on the Wii U. No wonder the Wii U only needs a 32GB drive vs. 500 for the PS4.
I definitely support adding chat, but on just about every game I play that has chat, nobody says a word, and this is on the current gen systems that all came with mics! Although, my buddy had his PS4 a full year before realizing that the earbud included a mic. Maybe that's everyone's problem?
I have all three. PSN down...LIVE down...Nintendo Network - UP!
I know our experiences are all individual, but I can tell you I've suffered it pretty regularly on PS4 in the short time I've played. Had at least two application freezes playing MP too, where I had to close it altogether. MY connection shows that it's solid, but I can see other players with a 1 bar connection. They must be the culprit.
I agree 100%. You sum up my exact feelings about it. How about putting the picture pieces together. We had to look it up on the interwebs. How in the world did someone figure out the locations of the pieces!?
It's not that we don't like indie titles. It's that we didn't buy a next-gen, powerhouse console to play games that can run on tech that's 10 years old. It's not disparaging the games or developers. It's the pain of being early adopters. I did it with the PS2, didn't with the PS3, but then bought both PS4 and Wii U as day ones - bad move if you expect a deluge of AAA titles in the first six months. I personally didn't. I have more choices for great gaming t...
Definitely agree - one of the most interesting games announced. Looks like a fresh take and a lot of fun.
I don't always comment, but when I do it's for a chance to win some sweet prizes.
I own a PS4, so let's talk about new & fresh IP...Killzone...FOUR...Battlef ield...FOUR...NFS...lost count of what version this is. They had ONE...ONE new IP...Knack. And reviews say it sucks. I bought KZ4, BF4, and NFS:R, because I love those franchises. Kinda like a bought Mario Bros, WiiU Party, 3D Land, Wario. I also bought Nintendo's new IP - W101, ZombiU, and Rayman Legends.
I had the same issue with China Rising DLC (and Premium actually). I'm on a PS4. You need to uninstall all your BF4 related stuff and re-install. Once I did that, I was able to play the maps finally! I think it's the same issue for the XBONE too.
I've really enjoyed it, BUT it is super frustrating. It's Demon's Souls in zombie clothing. What I don't like is that you can die and lose 2 hours of progress - POOF! It's got an offline multi-player mode, but I haven't tried it. I need to hunker back down with this one and finish it.
In my 40's here. I'll quit when I get through my backlog.
